DATA CABLES – A Precondition for the Information Society

Whether you want to connect your printer or smart phone to the PC, your router to the network, your flat screen screen to your laptop: data signals will have to be transmitted. A wireless network at home does not work without wires.

IT operations in general are a crucial aspect of most organizational operations. One of the main concerns is business & service continuity. Government, companies and professionals rely on their information systems to run their operations. If a system becomes unavailable, company operations may be impaired or stopped completely.

It is necessary to provide a reliable infrastructure for IT operations, in order to minimize any chance of disruption. Information security is also a concern, and for this reason a data center has to offer a secure environment which minimizes the chances of a security breach. A data center must therefore keep high standards for assuring the integrity and functionality of its hosted computer environment. This is accomplished through redundancy of both fiber optic cables and power, which includes emergency backup power generation.

The demands on data cables have and will continue to grow substantially. The wire & cable industry will continue to meet these challenges.

TELECOMMUNICATION CABLES – Long Distance Communication

Metallic and optical fibre cables form the backbone of the global telecommunication infrastructure.

They are either burried in ground, installed as subsea or aerial cables. The ever increasing requirements for speed and bandwidth lead to the development of telecommunication cables using fibre optic technology, replacing the traditional copper conductor in new installations for the transmission of communication signals over long distances.

All societal projects such as e-learning, e-health, e-government etc. depend on the existence of a state of the art high-speed telecommunication network infrastructure. For the e-services to reach the citizens the speed and bandwidth achieved with modern telecommunication networks over long distances needs to be complemented by Fibre to the Home.

Europacable is actively engaged with FTTH Council Europe which promotes a speedy role out of Fibre to the Home Technology.
